Well done boys a fantastic result, hopefully the first of many.
Today’s weather conditions were very windy which caused difficulties for both sides. Starting the game in a 4-4-2 formation as we finished last week’s fixture. Putting out a strong side as promised from returning players. After the coin toss we changed ends and started with the wind at our backs.
Early pressure from both our football and the weather resulted in numerous chances being created, notably efforts from B. Perry from the right and L. Pateman from the left. We restricted Wollaton to just a few forays into our penalty area.
We scored just before half-time with a well worked effort which came through the mid-field passing from Jebbo to Newlan, then a ball out to the left where the waiting Pateman drove a low hard shot into the back of the net.
After the interval we were playing into the wind which created only a few problems for our back four throughout the 2nd half. After some attacking play Wollaton had a succession of corners Half-way through the second period resulting in good defending, most notably a goal line clearing header by D. Hart.
Bringing on subs L. Holwes and S. Prince for D. Hart and D. Crosby we still continued to press forward we were unfortunate not to score again. The best of these chances falling to Newlan. A great team performance and an improved defensive display. A special mention has to go to A. Selby for a second consecutive man of the match award.
