Playing Calverton in the return fixture we stuck with the same formation and starting line up that beat Wollaton last week.

We stated attacking from the kick off with a lot of sustained pressure which caused the Calverton back four problems almost immediately. Playing deep in our opponents half we created chances though out the first period, most notably from hoskers long throw ins which the keeper didn’t know how to deal with.

Lee Pateman opened the scoring early in the half with a well struck effort. Calverton were restricted to only a few forays into our penalty area with Cartwright having to make a few clearances. Gibbs got the second Derby goal mid way through the half, which really settled the team. Some good running from Gibbs resulted in him being brought down the resulting penalty could have seen us go 3-0 up but unfortunately it was missed. Some late pressure from the opposition saw them have a couple of corners and some shots at goal, being defended well by the keeper and defence.
Starting the second half in the same attacking fashion as the first, we were looking for our third goal and found it with Pateman grabbing his second of the game. This half did see Calverton attack more as they put subs on looking for a goal of their own. We also made substitutions Mellon, Butler and Macmillan coming on for D. Hart, Crosby and Perry still saw the Ams looking strong.

A good midfield display from Newlan and Derby’s captain Jebbett saw a lot of the oppositions attacking play being broken down, but the back four remained solid though out the only mark against them was Calverton’s goal. We were still creating chances and late derby pressure saw substitute Butler net a well worked goal to put the game out of reach and earn a second win in successive weeks.
