Today’s game sees the return fixture against Radcliffe Olympic giving us chance to redeem our poor performance from last week, a few changes were made to the team to hopefully give us a more solid look. Still playing with a 4-4-2 formation we started the game on the front foot, with some good passing football leading to early chances.

Radcliffe too were not without chances breaking through on more than one occasion, in a game which flowed from end to end. Some good derby pressure saw the ball being moved through middle as well as using the flanks to get the ball into our opponents penalty area, but no end product was forth coming. Some late first half attacks and corners saw our goal mouth under pressure but the interval arrived with the score line at 0-0.

The second half started much as the first finished, with the width being used to good effect and again derby were close to scoring. The end to end nature of the game also our keeper being tested as Radcliffe searched for their own goal, but the Ams back four held firm with luck on our side. Substitutions were made by derby seeing M. Hart, Clay and Selby coming off in a succession of injuries being replaced by Moss-Pierce, Fisher and Kumar.

With little time left on the clock and the game heading for a draw, there were only 3 minutes to go when White put in a good solid cross for the arriving Davis to head home to give derby a 1-0 lead. Radcliffe right from the restart threw everything forward looking for an equalizer, the pressure mounted and they close hitting the bar. Even with a late corner which saw Radcliffe’s goal keeper come up for the corner but this came to no avail.

Today saw a solid performance with every player giving a good account of himself, showing the passion that has been lacking in recent weeks. Also hearing a few more voices today calling and wanting the ball, we looked like a team so let’s take it into next week’s fixture and improve even further.
