A little while later after some back and forth play Pateman collected the ball and broke though the ridings back four to put the ball into the back of the net 2-1. A corner saw our opposition draw level and they took the lead just before half time though some poor marking.
The second half never got going for derby and the pressure soon led to goals going in, even ridings goal keeper got onto the score sheet scoring with a goal kick out of his hands. This summed up a miserable afternoon for the ams. An injury forced derby’s goal keeper Cartwright from the field, his replacement Blackburn lasted all of 2 minutes before a static back four let ridings striker run into the penalty area with Blackburn bringing him down. Earning our opposition a penalty and Blackburn a straight red.
M. Hart volunteered to put on the goal keepers jersey and went between the sticks but was unable to stop the spot kick. Heads had dropped long before the penalty decision but tempers became frayed and the team attitude dropped as a whole. A poor 2nd half team performance all round, but mention goes to captain M. Jebbett for running his socks off and putting himself about. We played a better team today and rattled them by scoring and going in front but let’s put this one to bed and concentrate on the good league form we had going into this match.
