Dave Grummit had the luxury of 13 players to choose from with Michael Butler and David Crosby the unlucky substitutes.
The team, when announced, was as follows: Reliable John in goals with an ageing back 4 apart from Matt Fisher, who was right back, of Rambo left back with Grumm and Neale Roberts at the centre of defence. Midfield (Grant- I'd rather be up front) and Jebb in the middle with width coming from Ben Perry (left) and Matt Blackmore (Right) with Jack and Bravo up front.
We started the game in a nice fluent fashion and with Matt Blackmore causing havoc on the right several opportunities were created. Unfortunately we missed them due to last ditch tackling and poor finishing. However we eventually broke the deadlock on 20 minutes with ASHLEY BRAVO 1st goal of this campaign, again courtesy of great wing play from Matt Blackmore.
However, what seemed like a nice easy stroll on a Saturday afternoon turned into a Bilborough equaliser through the hard working centre forward Johnnie Walker (great name) who rounded John to score an equaliser against the run of play.
Chances were limited after this and both teams had to settle for a 1-1, half time score.
At the half time talk words were exchanged by Grumm and Rambo on how a draw against a side like this would be very poor and to progress we need to beat sides of this calibre.
Eventually we got back in to our passing game and went in front on 55 minutes through JACK BUTLER, who's shoot somehow went under the goalkeeper's body for 2-1.
As the game entered the final quartile Grant and Jebbo were starting to impose theirselves on the opposition and with Grum solid at the centre of defence we had a good structure about us. This eventually helped JACK BUTLER who's second goal was class, as he turned his marker and planted a right foot shot in the corner to make it 3-1.
To be fair Bilborough had a few chances after that but overall Derbyshire Amateurs were worthy winners, with Matt Blackmore on the right hand side the pick of the 13 players who took part.
